Path of Exile Item Upgrading
In Path of Exile, item upgrading is among the best ways to improve your gear without relying on big-ticket drops or trade. This article will teach you how to upp your items effectively.
Upgrading equipment grants an additional bonus to the item's base stats. The bonus increases with upgrade component level and rarity.
Components
Upgrade components are the items that improve your armor and weapons better. You can find them by destroying enemies, buying them from karma vendors, or finding them in item-spheres. They can also be salvaged from equipment that contains them or by using a high-tier salvage kit like the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. In contrast to other items upgrade components, upgrade components aren't destroyed when they are removed from an item.
Upgrade components are mostly used to improve an item however, they can also be used for other reasons. They can be used to boost the value of an upgradeable item or they can be used to increase the experience gained when upgrading an existing weapon or piece of equipment. They can be made for additional bonuses. For instance, a specially created glyph can increase the upgrade chance of its target, whereas the boost upgrade can increase the attack or defense property of a weapon, or armor.

You can attach an upgrade template to an item by selecting it from the edition GUI. This will show the upgrade components that the item can be updated. You can also use the workbench for selecting an upgrade template. In either case, an item will be upgraded when enough upgrade components have been collected.
Each component has a distinct experience multiplier that affects the amount of experience an item gets when it upgrades with the component. For instance, organic components give a higher experience multiplier than mechanical ones. It is therefore best to upgrade using organic components until you have reached the multiplier of experience for the next level of the equipment or weapon, and then change to mechanical upgrades.
Each item comes with an upgrade maximum number that is available for. The number of items that can be upgraded is determined by their upgradeable rank and the type of upgrade they are able to receive. For instance, the highest possible weapon upgrade is a weapon of tier 10. However, the most common upgrade for weapons is a tier 6 weapon and a tier 5 armor upgrade.
Sets
A set is a collection of objects that all share the same bonus. Each item in the set can be upgraded at least once and the upgrade will increase its guaranteed bonuses. When you first upgrade a set piece or weapon, it will receive an increase of +1 to its primary stat. After subsequent upgrades the stats of the primary one will be increased a bit more (for example, +1 to 12+/13+/14+), and each time you upgrade the item with an additional stats is increased randomly.
Upgrades can also boost a weapon's damage base. This can be crucial for certain types of builds. Weapons can't be upgraded for a higher maximum defence roll than their base. Upgrades can be a great option to increase the value of certain sets and unique items, but it's important to remember that they might not be better than a high-level runeword in any build.
If you are upgrading an item that has an added bonus, the item can be rerolled a single time and the guarantee will reset back to zero. Rerolling is the same amount of power dice as the process of leveling an item, but the new item will offer additional bonuses. The NPC [ArmorBoboko Boboko can upgrade your armor in Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you will require a power dice of each kind (Dice 4 or 6 drop from monsters 21+ and Giants; dice 7 drops from bosses) and the right amount of Minerals and Erons. item upgrades are available at the crafting table or the Ultra Collector and can be purchased with Gold. The NPC will also offer a special reward for each completed tier of the upgrade process. This reward can be rerolled a single time with the same materials and components as the first item.
Rerolling
If players have enough rerolling tokens, they can reroll any item that they've acquired during the game. If an item is rerolled, it will be replaced by the same level in another set. Reroll tokens are available in the shop for a small amount of in-game currency. They cannot be refunded. The new item will have the same bonuses as the original, but the statistics will also differ.
Players can change the identity of equipment in addition to changing it's roll by interfacing with an NPC upgrader. This will change the identification from an armored weapon to a weapon, or vice versa, while keeping its basic stats and attributes that are required. The change is permanent and will affect all characters that have the gear in question.
Players can also boost the level of an item equipped device by obtaining upgrade components and communicating with the upgrader NPC of the item. This will cost a certain amount of crests as well as Valorstones according to the upgrade track and item kind. In the case of weapons, each step will add five percent to the damage.
An upgrade will make it more powerful however it can also decrease its quality. Therefore, it is important to strike a balance between the two. Some items may not be worth upgrading at all however, others will need to be upgraded to realize their potential. A player might want to upgrade their breakpoint armor using an interesting modifier ( percent block chance or FHR) to explore what else it can be.
The primary reason why people are able to reroll in Genshin Impact, or in any gacha-based game is because they are trying to get a specific character or weapon that they aren't able to obtain. These items can be expensive and time-consuming, and the RNG gods do not always want to play ball. The only options left are to invest real money or grind a lot. Rerolling is extremely popular in Genshin Impact.
Leveling
You can select whether to upgrade the weapon or armor when you upgrade an item. However, this feature does absolutely nothing in the current game. I think this feature was designed to give value to rare and expensive items. However, since most gear is replaced fairly quickly, and can only be upgraded to a certain level, you will typically replace it before it gets too old. It's not worth it to level items that have gem sockets as the power of the gem will be greater than the increased ilvl that comes with the upgrade.
You will be presented with a small box when you click the upgrade option on an item. It will show the template for the item, its Crest, as well as the cost for Valorstone to raise the level of the item. Armor and weapons will have different costs, with the former typically being more costly. The upgrade template outlines the stats that will be added to the upgraded item. It it also lists the current ilvl.
The Crest and Valorstone costs are calculated by analyzing the current ilvl of the item and the upgrade template. The ilvl will also be reduced by the upgrade templates reduction percentage for lvl. For instance, an upgrade of 8% can reduce the ilvl of a weapon by 8 to 88%.
In addition to the increase in ilvl base the item will also be upgraded in other stats such as critical strike damage, PvE damage and block, parry and dodge rating. These upgrades are also based on the upgrade template.
The amount of damage and defense that the item is able to receive as it gets leveled up can be observed below the cost and upgrade decrease percentages in the upgrade template window. All weapons and armor apart from practice equipment get these stats once they've been leveled up. The value of these stats will be determined by the market, with a perfectly rolled piece of armor or weapon is able to command more trade value than non-upp'd versions. The same is true for other armor pieces such as circlets or Tiaras.
